The Universe Smiles Upon You

I’m writing this through squinted eyes, a solid hour and a half later that I usually like to have these posted. I’m hungover today, the consequences of a night spent having a little too much fun. The title of today’s post comes from the debut record by texas-based trio Khruangbin. This laid-back vibe is all I can take this morning.

I’ve been on a film frenzy as of late, I had a barrage of film canisters sitting in the cheese drawer of my refrigerator just waiting to be processed and finally I went out and dropped them off at the lab. I know I’ve already written about my love for film in this blog about a dozen times, but I’m gonna do it again today-

I love shooting on film.

Something about the disconnect from immediately seeing your image, the removal of autofocus and the necesity of a separate light meter. I love slowing down and considering each shot, I live for the patience and diligence of double checking all the settings, the mechanics of the shutter moving the prism in your hands, feeling all the inner mechanisms interlocking. It’s all great.

Plus, having to wait to see what you get after some time has passed makes reliving those moments and memories all the more special.

The collection I have to share with you today is from a trip I took with some friends to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater house in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. Blurring the lines between nature and civilization is such an interesting concept, I can’t help but feel inspired and relaxed when I go there. I hope the pictures help you to feel inspired and at ease too. EVerything you see here was shot on a Canon AE-1 Program on Ninoco 400 35mm. All unedited, untouched, straight from my friends at Premier Imaging in Pittsburgh!
