Getting back on the horse

With the current landscape of the world at large as well as learning to navigate adult life, I have found it uncharacteristically challenging to find the motivation to go out and shoot for the sake of shooting. Diving head first into freelance was as liberating as it was confining. I found myself creating more frequently than ever before, but I lacked the primal drive and inspiration that put a camera in my hands in the first place.

I have been suffering from the photographer’s equivalent of writer’s block. As new and exciting opportunities have emerged in other areas of my life, I have found myself putting photography on the backburner. Naturally, everything should come with moderation, including one’s craft, but as time has gone on it has started to feel like a rejection of self.

With that in mind, the only way to get out of this kind of rut is to push through and shoot in spite of it. With that in mind, here is a collection of photos I took recently as a way to help get myself back in the saddle and out shooting again.

There will be more to come soon.
