Stillness is the Move

Good afternoon, everyone! Today I’d like to write a little blip about balance.

Balance as a concept is something I think I have always understood, but rarely found in my own life. Whether that be taking on too much or not being present enough in a certain area, balance is the carrot at the end of the long stick of life that I condemned to chase.

Being in the early stages of my career, I take just about any job and opportunity that comes my way. On one hand that doesn’t always mean I get paid for my work, but on the other I am afforded the opportunity to explore people and places totally foreign to me.

This last weekend was one of the busier freelance weekends I’ve ever had, completing four shoots in just two days! Obviously, balance wasn’t exactly on my agenda here and that allowed me to network, shoot, and live a more realized version of the dream I’m building for myself. On the come down of this excitement, I was left with my internal fuel light on and over 6000 photos to cull and edit!

All this said, I still believe all things should come in moderation, including moderation. If striking balance in my life isn’t in the cards right now, so be it- I am spending my time doing what I love and exploring new worlds- but in the interrum I’m learning to slow down and not take any project for granted.

One of the shoots from this last weekend was an event at a security and safety office doing a masterclass on gun safety and Jiu-Jitsu. For those of you who may not know me, these things are not exactly in my daily wheelhouse. I was very nervous and didn’t know what to expect. It ended up being an incredibly fun shoot. Everyone there was overwhelmingly friendly and preached a message of love, respect, and responsibility.

This exploration of the foreign is something I doubt I will ever tire of, I hope I continue to do work for such wildly diverse and interesting people.

Below is a small collection of moments throughout that day, I hope you enjoy!
